How do I become a member of Metroplex Credit Union?
Membership is available to employees of our Select Employees Groups and the employee's family members. In addition, anyone who lives, works, attends school or worships within 10 miles of our office located at 2501 E. Hebron Pkwy, #300, Carrollton, TX 75010, may become a member. The community includes: Carrollton, Plano, The Colony, Lewisville, Addison, Dallas and Farmers Branch, Texas.

To become a member you must complete a membership application and deposit $25 into a savings account.

What is a Credit Union?
A Credit Union is a financial institution that may offer deposit accounts, loans, and investment accounts. The primary difference between a credit union and a bank is that a credit union is "not for profit", thus a credit union can, in most cases, offer its members services at a lower cost and provide better rates on loans and deposit accounts.

How long has Metroplex Credit Union been around?
Metroplex Credit Union used to be TCUL Credit Union. The name of the credit union was changed in 2002 to better identify our expanding field of membership. The Credit Union was founded in 1976 by the employees of the Texas Credit Union League. Today we serve the communities of Farmers Branch, Carrollton, Addison, North Dallas and have established relationships with over 90 businesses in the local community.

Are the funds I deposit insured like at a bank?
Yes, just like a bank, individual accounts are insured up to $250,000 by NCUA. NCUA is like the FDIC as it is federally regulated insurance fund. The primary difference is, unlike the FDIC, NCUA has not used tax payer dollars to bail out failed credit unions. In fact, for several years, the NCUA has paid dividends to its member institutions.

Can my company become a Select Employee Group?
Our state charter allows us to serve any business within a 10 mile radius of our main office location in Farmers Branch that have less than 300 employees. For the most part, companies located in North Dallas, Farmers Branch, Carrollton, Richardson, Addison, Coppell and Valley Ranch can become Select Employee Groups.

Can I continue my membership even if I leave my employer?
Yes, once you become a member, you can continue your membership indefinitely as long as your account is in good standing.
